Google has implemented an algorithm change that favors "mobile-friendly" web sites. Sites that are optimized for smart phones, tablets, and other mobile devices are likely to get a boost from Google on search result pages. The announcement about mobile changes was made over at the Web Master Central Blog last February.
Google's recent change to it's ranking algorithm dubbed "Mobilegeddon" by SEO experts starts today.
How does this affect MyBB forums?
If your forum does not function very well with mobile devices then you should probably rethink your SEO strategy. It's generally good practice to get users relevant and timely results if they are on a mobile device or not. So if you've been implementing that you are already on the right path.
Vanilla MyBB, out of the box, is not mobile friendly whether it's 1.6 or 1.8 and we suggest that you get it fixed right away. It's slow, doesn't scale, and doesn't look all that great.
